Let's say a steel boat catches on fire and burns. The inside of the boat is ruined, but the steel hull has kept the boat afloat.
Does the heat from the fire change the steel in any way? Does it become brittle, or soften? Does the difference in the heat absorbed above and below the waterline make a difference? _________________ ConchyJoe Administrator |

not aure about sail boats but I seen a few shrimpers burn. most , if the fire is not stopped fast enough, seem to worp. their decks buckle from the weight of the rigging ...mostly the wench (LOL not the capt's wife) get big dips in them.
now I have seen two that were completely stripped down sand blasted and treated and they now sail as pleasure craft. I'm not sure how bad they were burned though.
